Well guys, the past few months have been fun, but there hardly seems a better time to throw in the towel. Obviously the posts have gotten sparse lately, so it's clear we haven't had the time to keep this site up to date as much as we'd like. On a personal note, as FredRocks spools down, I'd prefer to think of it as more of a success than an ultimate failure.
This site was built on the premise that Frederick really does have a lot of events and activities for the nightlife crowd. The idea was that people simply weren't able to find out about the events that were worth checking out.
Truly, FredRocks has been more an experiment than a venture. The test, to find out whether Frederick truly has the social scene to support the latest generation of bar-goers, socialites, artists, musicians, creative class, and the like.
After these past months of following down every lead and interviewing many of the people who struggle to make Frederick a fun place to live, it has become clear that Frederick is ill prepared for such a crowd, and as such, this site and others like it have no place in this quiet wholesome town.
In conclusion, the only prediction left to be made is that there will soon be a mass exodus of that creative class, leaving this town for greener pastures. Perhaps the growing arts scenes of nearby DC and Baltimore will draw away those pesky hippies, and let this post-rural baby factory get back to doing what it does best. Sprawl.
Still, it's been a fun ride. Finally, special thanks to everyone who has helped out. I'm sure we'll run into each other from time to time, but we'll have to depend on chance, as this site should be closed down soon.
Thank you all!
