Now that spring has begun tantalizing us with sparse days of sun-drenched bliss, my door has been near destroyed under the frantic knocks of fervent couriers delivering unto me communiques from lands afar. Each one in a distinct hand, each one in a exotic dialect foreign yet familiar, each one bearing a unique seal of the artisan or courtier who so fervently entreated me, yet each one bearing messages uniform in substance.
To Evan Eugene Steppenwolf Albino Charles, Esteemed Lord Regent of Sweet Bay Manor,
I must inquire with the greatest of urgency when we shall resume our seasonal amusements. I find my life dull and lacking during the frigid wintry months. Imagine a gladiator, master of steel and strongest of men, told that henceforth he shall be sentenced to armed combat against the infirm, cripples, and children. Thus, you understand my level of shame, my disgust at the withering of my craft. I beseech you, assemble once more such glorious tournaments as were celebrated in years past, that we may compete as men. Attentively, I await your reply.
My Deepest Regards,
Benjamin Percival Escherichia Coli Zoller, Duke of Worcestershire
This and many other parchments have filled my greatest banquet hall, breaching the ceiling and astounding those who wished only for a simple seat for a simple meal. Well, fair comrades, fear not. Your pleas have not gone unheeded. After convening with my most trusted advisers, we have composed an accord which should bring an end to the interminable suffering of the weary.
Let it be heard near and far that from this day forward, melancholy is banished from my lands. Twice weekly, we shall convene to test our might, our mettle, our courage, and our will on the only field worthy to behold such honor. Sundays and Wednesdays in Baker Park, at 7 in the evening we will band together. Any who wish to prove themselves may join, but know that uncouth knaves and nefarious wenches shall be taunted mercilessly. Prepare yourselves well.
