*The Freddie Long Band: New Year, New Faces, New Music *
The Freddie Long Band will be performing at the new Frederick Greene Turtle location on Saturday, January 5th, after taking a brief hiatus from the stage following the departure of original drummer Ken Deater. The FLB will be introducing two new members at the performance, drummer Mike Ball and saxophone player Eric Brooks, and will be playing many new songs in addition to crowd favorites from their debut album, 'Strangers and Friends'. There will also be drink specials, giveaways, and an appearance by the Jim Beam Girls at the concert. The show begins at 9:30pm and admission is only $5. Those interested in attending are encouraged to arrive early to ensure admission before the venue reaches capacity. The first 50 people to bring any article, newsletter, printed webpage, or ad that mentions the performance will receive a free copy of 'Strangers and Friends'. You must be 21 with a valid ID to attend.
Collectively described as a “t-shirt and jeans blend of pop, rock, soul, and honesty,” The Freddie Long Band was formed in the summer of 2005 and has been charming listeners across the Mid-Atlantic ever since with captivating performances and catchy, introspective original music. During their busy touring schedule the pop/rock group has performed on commercial radio and TV and has shared stages with many popular regional and national acts including Jo Dee Messina, Blue Oyster Cult, Jimmie‘s Chicken Shack and Scott Ambush (of Grammy-nominated group Spyro Gyra). The FLB was also recently nominated for three Washington Area Music Awards ('The Wammies') including 'New Artist of the Year', 'Best Debut Album', and 'Best Rock Instrumentalist' (lead guitarist Christopher Bell).
The Freddie Long Band released ‘Strangers and Friends’ in February of 2007, followed by heavy regional touring in support of the album. The release is a collection of 13 original songs written by Freddie Long, ranging from upbeat, high-energy pop/rock to acoustic ballads and including many fan favorites from the band's live shows. ‘Strangers and Friends’ has been praised by critics and fans alike and has received positive reviews in both print and online industry publications. The album won Indie-Music.com's Top 25 releases of 2007 award, as well as Indie-Music.com's Top 25 MP3s of 2007 award for the song 'Blanket'.
