2010 is starting off with a BANG for STUDIO C Photography. For starters, we had some snowy weddings!
YES,during two of the three blizzard / snowstorms, STUDIO C had weddings!
And we rose to the occasion both times, because when everything has been planned for months, the show must gone on.
Snowstorm #1, December 19th (2009, but close enough):
Tanjanell and Warren. Had to be at the Hilton Garden Inn for pre-ceremony pictures at 11 am, and from there, to the Church on East Street (never knew there WAS a church on East Street!), and from there, to Dutch's Daughter, closed to the public for the day, but ready to roll for the reception.
Besides family and wedding party, only 8 guests made it to the ceremony and reception.
But Tanj and Warren were in their own world, deeply in love, and actually thrilled with the uniqueness of the day.
Snowstorm #2, January 30th:
Sarah and David. This was the first REALLY wild one with major accumulations, that came at us from the south.
And I had to drive south straight into it, to Meadowlark Gardens in Vienna, VA. Yes - VIRGINIA!
The first thing I did was tell my second shooter to stay home. Then I called a Vienna photographer and asked her to second shoot. She agreed - and how perfect it was that she lived only 3 miles from the venue! If by some chance I would not make it in time, the wedding was fully covered with at least 1 exceptional photographer (even though we always have 2.)
Good thing I was proactive. It took me four hours to get there - OMG! - with nearly TWO of those hours on 495 trying to travel a mere 9 miles! (Um, and I did I mention I had to go to the bathroom, too? That empty apple juice bottle in the back seat was looking better and better. Seriously.)
The Vienna photog was the only one on time. The entire wedding party, most of the guests, and the pastor were all late. One they got there, she covered all of the getting ready shots, and had plenty of time waiting for them to get numerous shots of the room, the details, the cake, the beautiful venue itself which featured indoor live trees and a small winding brook.
I got there just as the pastor was arriving - five minutes to spare - and thus was able to fully shoot the ceremony and reception with my Vienna pal.
But not until I went to the bathroom! First things first, lol.
So it can be safely stated that STUDIO C Photography DELIVERS, come rain, shine, 104 degree summer heat (yeah, been there, done that, too), or blinding blizzard.
Another 2010 Highlight:
On January 8th, I conducted our usual PORTFOLIO-In-A-Day session at Calumet Photographic in Manhattan. We had a full house with 12 students, and some kickin' agency models from Ikon, Elite, and others. Here are a few of the images from that fun shoot. ALICIA L Boutique loaned us a trunkful of designer label clothing, and we did a few posters for her shop from these pictures:
