This is NOT your Grandma's Shakespeare!

If you are tired of sitting at home watching reruns, come to the Cultural Arts Center to see Maryland Shakespeare Festival's hilarious spoof/homage to the Bard: "The Complete Works of William Shakespeare [Abridged]". This is NOT your Grandma's Shakespeare! There are jokes about sex, politics and religion, plus lots of general silliness and mayhem. There are 3 weeks left of their 4-week run. Performances are Thu./Fri./Sat. at 8PM and Sundays at 2PM through Feb. 16, at the Frederick Cultural Art Center, 15 West Patrick Street. Please note that the performance on Friday, February 8 will be held at the Elizabethan Playhouse at 8 West 2nd Street (in Centennial Memorial United Methodist Church) as a benefit for the church's community outreach program: 2nd Street & Hope. For the story on why the MSF is not performing the entire run at the Elizabethan Playhouse, read the article at http://www.fredericknewspost.com/sections/news/display.htm?StoryID=70351 or http://www.gazette.net/stories/013108/frednew65225_32363.shtml
. Tickets are $18 ($15 for students/seniors), except on Thursdays, when tickets are $15 ($10 for students/seniors). You can buy tickets in advance or at the door. Please tell them you saw this on FredRocks.net! For more info, go to http://www.mdshakes.org or call 301-668-4090.

Thanks for letting us know! Shame about the small town drama making the show relocate, but the CAC has a great facility too. All's well that ends well.

Gives a new meaning to "mdshakes.org" I really doubt that this is it, but let me know if you find out what you were talking about.

Er, no, there's no nudity, just 3 guys in tights, Elizabethan bloomers, and (sometimes) dresses and wigs. As to the "All's well" comment, yes, the Maryland Shakespeare Ferstival is set for this current production, thanks to the CAC, but there are 3 more spring shows that have lost their venue, plus all the future seasons' shows that would've been staged at the Elizabethan Playhouse (in Centennial Memorial United Methodist Church). MSF cannot ask the CAC to provide their stage for every MSF show. If anyone knows of an available venue, please contact MSF directly. P.S. The summer performance will be in June at Baker Park. (Date TBD)

Please come to a benefit performance for "2nd Street & Hope" -- The Friday night performance (Feb. 8, 8PM) of "The Complete Works of William Shakespeare [Abridged]" will be held at the Elizabethan Playhouse at 8 West 2nd Street (in Centennial Memorial United Methodist Church) as a benefit for the church's community outreach program: 2nd Street & Hope. All proceeds from Friday's ticket sales will go 2nd Street & Hope. Also, we will be raffling off a makeover from The Temple. All other performances (including tonight!) will be at the CAC, 15 W. If you and your sweetie love to laugh, join us at the Maryland Shakespeare Festival. There are three remaining performances of their raucously silly show “The Complete Works of William Shakespeare [Abridged]” on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, Feb. 14, 15, & 16, at 8:00 PM at the Cultural Arts Center, 15 West Patrick Street, Frederick. As the Bard once said, “BOGO or not BOGO? That is the question.” In other words, in honor of Valentine’s Day (Feb. 14 only), you can buy one ticket at the regular Thursday price of $15, $10 students/seniors and get the second ticket for half price – if you can name any pair of Shakespeare’s lovers. If you’re single, name any pair of Shakespeare’s lovers and receive a 25% discount. All will receive a chocolate heart with your ticket.
Friday’s & Saturday’s tickets are $18, $15 students/seniors. Tickets can purchased at the door; for more info, go to http://www.mdshakes.org.
